Wang Suoping, born in 1972 in Jiangyan District, Taizhou, Jiangsu Province, China, is a towering contemporary artist, doctoral supervisor, and pioneering representative of Chinese ink landscape painting. He is also a versatile master adept at contemporary poetry, calligraphy and painting. He serves as a National Senior Appraiser of Cultural Relics and Artworks, Honorary Professor of the Royal College of Art (UK), CEO of Global Travel TV under the National Radio and Television Administration, Visiting Scholar at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Doctoral Supervisor at the Repin Academy of Fine Arts in Russia, Doctoral Supervisor at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna in Thailand, and Vice Chairman of the Teaching Professional Committee of the Alliance of 56 Chinese Universities in Northern Thailand.

He has published Teaching Models of Famous Teachers from China’s Institutions of Higher Art (Selected Landscape Paintings by Wang Suoping, Selected Flower-and-Bird Paintings by Wang Suoping, Selected Calligraphy Works by Wang Suoping), Paintings by Renowned Masters of Fine Contemporary Chinese Art, Teaching Cases of Famous Teachers from Thailand’s Institutions of Higher Art — Selected Traditional Chinese Paintings by Wang Suoping, Wang Suoping’s Calligraphy and Painting Collection for a Powerful Era, and Special Album of Wang Suoping’s Traditional Chinese Paintings for the Venice International Art Biennale. His major masterpieces include Long Scroll Calligraphy of Mao Zedong’s Poems, Poem Calligraphy for the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, Sea of Clouds over Huangshan Mountain, Mountain Town Dwellings, Panjiang Bridge, Dreamscape of Huangshan Mountain, Golden Buddha at Sunset, Spirit of Tongnan, and Reunification of the Motherland. Copyrights of some of his works are widely adopted as state guest gifts by central institutions including the Great Hall of the People and Zhongnanhai. His Precious Lotus series has toured over 150 countries. Hailed by global authoritative media as a top grand master in the world art arena, he has been listed on the Global Top 100 Artists Ranking and China Ranking of Artists with the Highest Collectible Value. He has received honors including National Meritorious Model Artist, One of China’s Top Ten Outstanding Art Figures, One of the Top Ten Outstanding Chinese Artists Worldwide, National Image Figure for Chinese Culture Going Global, One of China’s Top Ten Benchmark Figures for Educational Innovation, National Artist with Both Moral Integrity and Artistic Excellence, Outstanding Pioneer Representative for National Rejuvenation, and is the only towering contemporary Chinese artist recorded in the World History of Art Education.

His works are permanently collected by world-leading institutions such as the Great Hall of the People, the National Museum of China, the National Art Museum of China, the Louvre Museum, Tiananmen Rostrum, and the Royal College of Art. He has donated publications and artworks worth hundreds of millions of RMB to major libraries and universities across the globe. His artworks have obtained authoritative judicial appraisal under China’s ISC2000 artwork appraisal system and national artwork filing and registration.

On December 7, 2024, he was invited to the annual cultural diplomacy state banquet for the global military attaché corps hosted by the Central Military Commission. In the same year, jointly invited by UNESCO, the Office of the Prime Minister of Italy, the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma and Accademia di Belle Arti di Torino, he served as the Chinese judge for the China-Italy Cultural and Art Exchange Exhibition.

In 2026, he was selected as an accompanying artist for the “Decade of National Scientific Expeditions”. His artworks traveled and toured more than 100 countries worldwide aboard China’s research vessels and were presented as state gifts to heads of state of many nations. In August 2026, he was invited to host the “Wang Suoping Red Calligraphy and Painting Art Exhibition & Seminar on Inheriting the Heroic Spirit of Liu Hulan” at the central government organs in Beidaihe.
